Amaya Ormaechea
Amaya has been passionate about Mexican Culture for many years of her life.
She was born in the Philippines of mixed cultural decent and immigrated to Canada in 1970. She has owned multiple small restaurants in her career in the hospitality industry and has been catering private events for over 30 years!
But she always had a dream of owning a Food Truck.
Amaya moved to Vernon, BC in 2016 after meeting her partner John Green
and together they opened MI TAQUERIA MEXICAN CANTINA
in August of 2020.
There is so much that Amaya dreams of sharing with her customers and is grateful for the opportunity to offer her dream with everyone.
John Green
John has lived in Vernon for the majority of his life (grew up in Coldstream)
and has served the community in the restaurant industry for over 30 years.
He was part of the team that originally ran the Local Favourite Pizza Place
"Jim's Place Pizza" for decades and is well known by Vernonites.
John is the friendly face you often see greeting you and is enthusiastic to share his love of food and people with everyone who visits the food trailer.
Combining their passion for customer service, authentic mexican food and an appreciation for something out of the ordinary, John and Amaya have been able to excel in their food trailer business in such a short amount of time.
The Vintage Silver Food Trailer known as Frida has captured the attention of the city of Vernon and surrounding communities since her inception.
